Freshpet

Nourishing pets, people, and the planet

Freshpet's mission is to nourish Pets, People, and the Planet. They make refrigerated pet food crafted from real, fresh ingredients that have been thoughtfully sourced. They believe that a healthy planet is great for communities as well as their business, and strive to be as sustainable as possible in all that they do.

Climate change is a priority for Freshpet because they believe that working to lessen their impact on the environment is good for the planet and good for their business, by helping mitigate business risks.

Freshpet purchases Nori Carbon Removal Tonnes (NRTs) because agriculture is a major part of their supply chain, and NRTs support regenerative farmers using climate-smart practices. Each NRT represents one tonne of CO2 sequestered and stored for at least ten years, with re-verification every three years. In addition to carbon removal, NRTs support a variety of co-benefits like soil restoration, climate resilience, and more.

“We believe in finding carbon offset partners that help provide more benefits than just credits. Partnering with Nori helps support regenerative farming, biodiversity, and water quality in addition to reducing Freshpet's carbon footprint,” shared Freshpet’s Sustainability Lead.
