Garrett Land and Cattle has been on a progressive movement to build healthier soils, increase overall production, utilize all-natural nutritional products to increase the sequestering of carbon and provide a steady increase in the financial ROI in every aspect of the operation. Over the past 22 years, we have not only increased our overall production of crops and livestock, but have been able to improve our overall condition of our soils, as well as understand the value of integrating new regenerative farming practices, along with new operational technologies. In the past 8 years, we have taken major steps in the way we farm every acre and utilize every natural nutrient that our farm can provide us. We pride ourselves as good stewards of the land as the sixth generation of Garrett’s join the progression of Garrett Land and Cattle. In 2020 we were shooting for 450 bushels of corn, but nitrogen levels started dropping in early July. We felt like we were grasping at straws, and decided to use a biological rather than adding additional nitrogen. We chose Rhizolizer from Locus Agricultural Solutions (Locus AG) and within one week, the nitrogen levels increased by almost ½%. I have no doubt in my mind that Rhizolizer made a difference. Locus AG’s CarbonNOW program also helped me become one of the first farmers in the nation to market carbon credits through the Nori marketplace. It has been a tremendous experience to go through with Locus AG as the CarbonNOW account manager, and will provide an unforeseen financial gain to our farm. I would recommend that every farmer look into the value of carbon credits on their farm. When I first started working with Locus AG I was more interested in the carbon credits, but now I see equal value in the agronomic benefits of Rhizolizer. It gives the soil more microbes, makes nutrients more plant available and gives me more yields. We were sequestering 1.1 tons of carbon per acre, but with Rhizolizer we’re hoping for 4 tons. I’m a true believer in the product.
