About

We are Kerry and Angela Knuth, we farm with our two sons Gregory and Garrison in Mead, NE. Our sons are the 5th generation on the farm. On the majority of our acres, we grow corn, soybeans, and wheat. Both GMO and non-GMO. We certified our 1st organic field in 2020. Two-thirds of our acres are under center pivot irrigation. We have been moving towards farming practices that promote minimal soil disturbance, planting cover when possible and conserving water usage through precision technology.

Crops

GMO and non-GMO corn, soybeans, HRW wheat, alfalfa, oats. Cover crop.

Practices

No-till cash crops, split apply fertilizer with streamers and Y-Drop applicators, plant covers for grazing and soil building. Roll covers when possible to reduce chemical applications. Use soil moisture probes and variable rate irrigation to reduce water usage.

Timeline

Went from full tillage to no-till in 2004 on soybean fields. In 2005 we went from full tillage to strip-till on cornfields. In 2019 we started no-tilling cornfields. In 2013 we planted our 1st cover crop and in 2015 we grazed a cover crop for the first time. 2016 we moved to split applications of fertilizer with the Y-Drops and we have been variable rate applying water since around 2007.
